Why we built Picha
The idea behind Picha came from Emmanuel Olagbemisoye, a software developer who had been a guitarist at his local church for over five years. Every service, the media department captured photos and videos but Emmanuel rarely saw himself in any of them.
He wasn't alone. Fellow musicians, band members, and friends in the congregation had the same frustration: you'd have to check the church's Instagram and hope your photo was posted and even then, the quality was often low before tools like Instasave became common. Most of the time, there were simply no pictures for you at all.
In 2025, Emmanuel decided to build the fix himself a photo and video delivery platform where everyone at a church service, or any other event, could find their own pictures in seconds, in full quality, without messaging the media team or scrolling social feeds.
Picha launched in July 2026 a focused core team at Picha in Lagos, building photo delivery that works the way Nigeria actually runs — mobile-first, Naira checkout, and links that spread through WhatsApp.
